TRUE NORTH 2:  MIRROR, MIRROR – REFLECTIONS OF LOVE

“Your True North is not a place you must find, but a truth you must remember. When you quiet the noise of the world and listen to your soul, you discover that you were never lost. You were simply finding your way home to yourself.”   Teri Angel

Mirrors are remarkable objects. It is difficult to imagine living without one. We use them every day to check our appearance, straighten our clothes, fix our hair, and make sure the face we present to the world is acceptable. Yet, how many times do we really look at the person staring back at us? And how many times do we avoid that reflection because we are afraid of what we might see?

Michael Jackson sang so profoundly about looking at the man in the mirror and asking him to change his ways. Those words have inspired countless people to examine their lives and consider what needs to change. But today, during our True North Gathering, we explored a different perspective. What if there is nothing about our true essence that needs to be fixed? What if the journey is not about changing who we are, but recognizing who we have always been?

Our gathering today was filled with moments of discovery, vulnerability, laughter, and tears. As we explored the concept of mirrors, something beautiful began to unfold. We discovered that mirrors come in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes the most powerful mirrors are not made of glass at all. Sometimes they come in human form. The people who enter our lives often reflect something within us that we have not yet recognized. Some reflect our beauty, our kindness, and our capacity to love. Others may reflect our fears, insecurities, or the wounds we have carefully hidden beneath layers of protection. And sometimes the person who challenges us the most becomes our greatest teacher.

Isn't that fascinating? We can spend a lifetime pointing at the mirror and complaining about what we see, never realizing that the reflection is inviting us to look deeper. When someone triggers an emotional response within us, perhaps the question is not, "Why are they doing this to me?" but rather, "What is this experience showing me about myself?" That does not mean every unkind action is our responsibility or that we must accept harmful behavior. It simply means we can choose to learn something about ourselves through the experiences life presents.

During our True North Gathering, we have been exploring the importance of releasing what no longer serves us. Old stories. Limiting beliefs. The need to control. The fear of being seen. And perhaps one of the greatest things we can release is the belief that we are somehow incomplete. I watched beautiful souls courageously look beyond the surface today. I witnessed moments when the masks slipped away and authenticity took their place. There is something sacred about being in a space where people feel safe enough to be themselves without judgment or the expectation of perfection. And isn't that what love really is?

A Course in Miracles teaches us to look beyond appearances and recognize the truth of who we are. Jesus taught us to love one another, not because everyone behaves perfectly, but because love is our divine inheritance. When we look into a mirror with judgment, we see flaws. When we look with compassion, we begin to see a soul on a journey. And when we look through the eyes of love, we recognize the light of God shining back at us. Perhaps our True North has been there all along, quietly waiting beneath the noise of the world, the opinions of others, and the stories we have told ourselves about who we should be. We do not need to become someone else to find our way home. We simply need to remember.

Dear Angels, why is it sometimes so difficult to recognize our own divine beauty, even when others can see it so clearly?

Dear Ones, you have spent so much of your earthly journey looking outward for confirmation of your worth. You have allowed the opinions of others, the experiences of your past, and the judgments of your own mind to cloud the magnificent reflection of your soul. We ask you to look again. Look beyond the wrinkles that tell the stories of your laughter and tears. Look beyond the scars that remind you of battles survived. Look beyond the mistakes you believe define you. See the light that has never dimmed, even during your darkest moments. You are not a project that needs repairing. You are a divine expression of love remembering its own magnificence.

The people who cross your path are sometimes mirrors, reflecting both the beauty you have forgotten and the places within you that are asking for tenderness and healing. Receive these reflections with curiosity rather than judgment. And remember, dear hearts, not every reflection is an accurate picture of who you are. Some mirrors are distorted by another person's pain or perception. You need not carry those distortions as your truth.

Your True North is the quiet knowing within your soul that you are loved, worthy, and eternally connected to your Creator. When you stand before a mirror, place your hand upon your heart and whisper, "I see you. I honor you. I love you." Allow those words to settle into the deepest places of your being. You have never been separated from the love that created you. You have simply been learning to recognize it again. And as you begin to see yourself through the eyes of love, something miraculous happens. You begin to see others that way, too.

Angels Whisper: The mirror does not create your beauty; it merely offers you an opportunity to recognize it. Look beyond the reflection, dear one, and remember the divine light within. Your True North has never left you. It has been patiently waiting for you to come home to yourself.

Today, I promise to look at my true self as I gaze into the mirror.
