TRUE NORTH 1: THE BEAUTY OF LETTING GO

“When the eyes and ears are open, even the leaves on the trees teach like pages from the Scriptures.” — Kabir

There are moments in life when you just know that something sacred is unfolding. You may not be able to explain it, and you certainly cannot orchestrate it, but you can feel it deep within your soul. Today was one of those moments.

Our long-awaited True North Gathering began today in beautiful Virginia Beach, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude. There was laughter. There were tears. But most of all, there were hugs. Oh, so many hugs! There is something magical about watching people come together with open hearts and a willingness to experience something greater than themselves. Old friends reunited as though no time had passed, while new friends quickly discovered that they were not strangers at all. They were simply family members who had not yet met.

As car after car arrived, the excitement continued to build. Each new arrival brought another wave of joy, another embrace, another beautiful soul adding their unique energy to our gathering. By the time the final vehicle pulled in, it felt as though the house itself was smiling. That last car was packed full of love, and I couldn't help but think how perfectly Spirit had brought us all together.

We had plans, of course. There was an agenda filled with meaningful experiences designed to help each participant discover their own True North. But as I have learned over these past six years of traveling on the Peace On Earth Tour, sometimes the most beautiful experiences are the ones we never planned. One of our scheduled activities could not take place today. In another time in my life, I might have felt disappointed or scrambled to make everything happen exactly as intended. Today, however, we simply flowed with what was before us. And what unfolded was extraordinary.

We gathered for an impromptu Talking Stick experience, where each person had the opportunity to speak from the heart while the others listened with love and without judgment. There was no need to fix anyone, offer solutions, or fill the silence. We simply held sacred space for one another. As the sharing continued, a beautiful theme emerged: release. Isn't that interesting? We had come together to discover our True North, and Spirit gently reminded us that before we can clearly see the direction our soul is calling us toward, we often must release what has been weighing us down.

Release the need to control every outcome.

Release the fears that have kept us standing still.

Release the old beliefs that whisper we are not worthy, not capable, or not enough.

Release the stories we have carried for so long that we have mistaken them for our identity.

Sometimes we hold on so tightly to what is familiar that our hands are not open to receive what is divinely intended for us. I thought about Kabir's beautiful words and how nature teaches us this very lesson. Look at the trees in autumn. They do not struggle to hold on to their leaves. They do not mourn each one as it falls or worry about whether new leaves will appear in the spring. They simply surrender to the season, trusting the divine intelligence that guides their existence. What if we could do the same? What if we understood that letting go is not losing something but making room for something greater? What if the very thing we are afraid to release is the thing standing between us and the peace we so desperately seek?

A compass always points north, but we must be willing to look at it and trust its guidance. Our spiritual compass works much the same way. That still, small voice within us is always offering direction, yet sometimes the noise of our fears, expectations, and attachments makes it difficult to hear. Today, as I watched beautiful souls courageously share their hearts, I was reminded that healing does not always require elaborate exercises or carefully structured lessons. Sometimes it simply requires a safe place to be heard, a loving presence, and the willingness to lay down what we no longer need to carry.

Jesus taught us, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32

Perhaps one of the greatest truths we can discover is that we are already worthy of love, already connected to our Creator, and already equipped with the inner guidance needed to find our way home to ourselves. We do not have to become someone different to find our True North. We simply have to release the things that have caused us to forget who we truly are. As this first day comes to a close, I am filled with anticipation for what lies ahead. Yet I am also reminded to remain fully present with the gift of today. We may have an agenda for the coming days, but Spirit has already shown us that the greatest blessings may arrive in the spaces between our plans. And perhaps that is the most beautiful lesson of all. When we stop trying to control the journey, we create space for the Divine to show us the way.

Dear Angels, why is it sometimes so difficult for us to release the things that no longer serve us, even when we know they are keeping us from moving forward? How can we learn to trust the process of letting go as we seek our True North?

Dear Ones, you have spent much of your earthly journey learning how to hold on. You hold on to memories, relationships, beliefs, expectations, and even pain because they have become familiar companions. You sometimes believe that releasing them means losing a part of yourselves. We lovingly remind you that you cannot lose your true essence by releasing what was never yours to carry.

Imagine a tree in autumn. Its leaves have served their purpose, bringing beauty, nourishment, and growth throughout the season. Yet the tree understands that a new season requires a different expression of life. It does not resist the falling leaves, for it knows that its roots remain strong and its life continues. So it is with you, Dear Ones.

Release does not mean rejection. It does not mean that your experiences were without value. It means honoring the lessons, blessing the journey, and allowing your soul the freedom to grow beyond what has been. You need not force the process. You need not release everything in a single moment. Simply begin by opening your heart and asking, “What am I ready to lay down today?” Then listen. We speak to you through the quiet whispers of your heart, through the loving words of another, through the tears that cleanse your spirit, and yes, even through the leaves falling gently from the trees.

Your True North has never abandoned you. It is the divine light within that continues to guide you home. Trust that light. Trust the unfolding. Trust the love that surrounds you. And remember, Beloveds, sometimes the greatest step forward begins with simply letting go.

Angels Whisper: The tree does not fear the falling leaf, for it knows that letting go is part of becoming. Release what weighs upon your heart, and trust the sacred compass within your soul. Your True North is not a destination you must struggle to reach. It is the truth of who you have always been. Be still, surrender, and allow Love to lead the way.”

Today, I promise to release what no longer serves me and move forward to my True North.
