To Be Like Helen

“Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.” — Helen Keller

When I hear someone say “I can’t” everything inside me cringes. I remember learning about Helen Keller when I was young. I heard of her amazing ability to thrive through all her difficulties, her blindness, deafness and inability to speak clearly. Through all of that, she did not give up and say “I can’t.” In 1964, Helen Keller was awarded the Medal of Freedom and was hailed as “an example of courage to all mankind. Did you know that although she was deaf and blind she flew an airplane alone? To quote Helen, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Helen was an advocate for people with disabilities and was very outspoken about our rights. She used her own life experience to inspire others and make a difference in the world. She is one of my heroes. So yes, the words “I can’t” really get to me because I know that anything you put your mind to is possible.

Dear Angels, I want to always look at what I can do, not what I cannot. I want to feel into potential, not limitations. I want my life to make a difference as those who have gone before me and in that quest I sometimes feel so small in a world where there is so much to do to effect change. Help me, angels, to stay focused and help us all who are awake and aware to know how best to accomplish shining our lights.

Dear Ones, your only limitation is inside you – not on the outside. Whether you think you can or not, you are correct. No one and nothing can convince you once you make up your mind. Those who have overcome great difficulties know this fact. They realize that thinking or speaking in defeatist terms will not create the environment of success. A setback is just that – a chance to learn and adapt, not the end of a quest. And so, Dear Ones, your mission that you came here for comes with all that you need to complete and it is all inside you. Why would you want to convince yourself otherwise? That self-talk that you do does matter. You can rise up and do what you are here to do. You can be that bright light leading the way. What are you overcoming to reach your goals? Are you letting yourself imagine succeeding or simply saying it is too hard and “I can’t”?

Dear Angels, I can and I will! Thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to step outside my comfort zone, even if that first step is timid and uncertain.
