Riders On The Storm

“It is only during a storm that a tree knows how strong it is.” ― Matshona Dhliwayo

In the 90’s I had my own motorcycle. It was truly something that gave me great pleasure and a sense of accomplishment . Talk about being fearless – whew! “Angel” was my pride and joy. She was rebuilt for me from a neglected bike that had been sitting outside for years. Every piece and part was taken apart and redone. The finished product was painted shiny black and then custom airbrushed with the word “angel” across the gas tank, a flowing angel on the side of the tank with a staff and lighting bolts streaking throughout the other parts. The chrome glistened and I kept her immaculate, cleaning her immediately after riding. One night a few of us had been out for a ride after we set up camp in a park. Florida is notorious for its storms that move in quickly and we could tell there was one coming. We stopped for a bite on our way back to the park, which was a major mistake. I had a passenger on the back and we started toward the road that led to a causeway that we had to cross to get to where we were camping. About five minutes on the road and the sky opened up. We were on the gulf side and the storm moved in faster which is typical due to the warmer water. The wind was blowing my small bike around and it was all I could do to keep it on the road. I could barely see with the heavy rainfall. I told my Debra, my passenger, to hold on and pray. I could see the blinking lights of the causeway and made it there but then came the difficult part of finding the turnoff to the park. I had never prayed so hard for angel guidance until that night. The others in our party had arrived before us and were amazed when they saw the headlight and we pulled into camp. That experience is one that has stuck with me for over 30 years as a testimony to the strength we develop in the face of storms, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.

Dear Angels, when a storm in life comes in unexpectedly and with such intensity, we truly find out what we are made of. If our faith has been fortified, we are more likely to plow through the storm. With trust comes confidence that we are not alone and can take on whatever it is that comes our way.

Dear Ones, physical storms occur when the environment becomes unstable. There are usually opposing energies that clash, thus creating thunder, lightning and rain. As you go about your daily lives, your environment can also become unstable. Your thoughts may conflict with your beliefs or expectations. You may think it doesn’t matter if you become upset over something or if you spew out hateful thoughts or words toward yourself or another, but in reality this disturbs the energy field surrounding you. You can also be affected by other’s energy and if unprepared this can create a very unpleasant experience. You can be better prepared to face the storms by knowing yourself, your beliefs, your expectations that you hold for yourself and others, and who is helping you through the journey of your life. That awareness is the key to forging through the storm. Those flashing lights, such as what guided Teri physically in the storm, are your spirit guides. Look for their signs and listen for their instructions. Clothe yourself in the protective shield of Archangel Michael and always call on him in times when the ground gets a little shaky. You are never alone. Stay strong in your faith.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to shield and protect against the storms of life and never lose faith.
