LIFE IS MEANT TO BE FUN

“Imagine a world without pleasure. Life would appear colorless and humorless. A baby’s smile would go unappreciated. Foods would be tasteless.” Robert Ornstein and David Sobel
It is so true that if there were no joy in life, nothing would make sense. It wouldn’t matter if there were good or bad, up or down, sunshine or rain. Without the ability to experience joy, life would simply become a series of events with no sparkle, no laughter, and no reason to stop and appreciate the beauty surrounding us.
Can you imagine walking through this magnificent world and not being moved by a breathtaking sunset? What if the laughter of a child brought no warmth to your heart? What if the sight of a butterfly dancing among the flowers stirred nothing within you? How empty our days would seem if we could not experience the simple pleasures that God has so lovingly placed along our paths. I have often said that life should be fun! That doesn't mean every moment is filled with laughter or that we should ignore the challenges that come our way. Believe me, I have experienced enough of those challenges to know that life can sometimes bring us to our knees. Yet, even in the darkest moments, there has always been a little spark of joy waiting to be discovered.
Sometimes that spark came through a kind word from a stranger. Sometimes it was a song on the radio that made me smile. Other times it was simply looking up at the sky and remembering that I was still here, still breathing, still being given another opportunity to experience this amazing adventure called life.
As I travel on the Peace On Earth Tour, I have discovered that joy is a universal language. It doesn't require translation. A smile in India carries the same beautiful energy as a smile in Alaska. The laughter of children in Egypt sounds just as delightful as the laughter of children in Kentucky. Wherever I go, I find that joy has a remarkable way of connecting hearts.
Recently, while experiencing the incredible beauty of Alaska, I found myself laughing with pure delight at things I had never imagined doing. Feeding reindeer, loving on a moose, and riding behind a team of enthusiastic sled dogs brought out the child in me. There was no need to analyze those moments or search for some profound spiritual meaning. I was simply enjoying being alive! And perhaps that was the spiritual lesson after all.
We sometimes become so focused on our responsibilities, our spiritual growth, and the things we believe we must accomplish that we forget to enjoy the journey. We make happiness something to be earned after the work is finished, the bills are paid, or the problems are solved. What if joy was never meant to be the reward at the end of the journey? What if it was meant to be our traveling companion all along?
I believe God delights in our happiness. I can almost imagine the angels smiling when we laugh uncontrollably, dance when no one is watching, or become completely fascinated by something as simple as a colorful autumn leaf floating to the ground. Joy doesn't always announce itself with fireworks and grand celebrations. Sometimes it whispers through a quiet morning, a warm cup of tea, a loving hug, or the gentle realization that this very moment is enough. And here's something I have learned along the way. We don't have to wait until everything is perfect to allow joy into our hearts. Joy and sadness can exist together. We can be grieving and still find a reason to smile. We can be uncertain about tomorrow and still appreciate the blessings of today. Perhaps the greatest gift we can give ourselves is permission to experience pleasure without guilt, to laugh without explanation, and to celebrate life simply because we are part of it.
Dear Angels, how can we invite more joy into our lives when the world seems so filled with challenges and uncertainty?
Dear Ones, joy is not something you must chase, earn, or create through great effort. It is already woven into the very essence of your being. You came into this earthly experience to feel, to explore, to discover, and yes, to delight in the magnificent gift of life. You have been taught to take life seriously, to measure your worth by accomplishments, and to postpone your happiness until certain conditions have been met. Yet we ask you, who decided that joy must wait?
Look at the children. They do not need a reason to laugh. They find wonder in a puddle of water, a floating bubble, or a butterfly resting on a flower. They have not yet forgotten that life is meant to be experienced with curiosity and delight. We invite you to remember that child within you. Give yourself permission to play. Sing even if you cannot carry a tune. Dance even if your steps are awkward. Taste your food with appreciation. Notice the colors of the changing seasons. Allow yourself to be surprised by the goodness that still exists in your world. And when your heart is heavy, do not demand that it become joyful before it is ready. Be gentle with yourself. Joy is not the denial of sorrow. It is the quiet light that reminds you sorrow is not the entirety of your existence.
You are not here merely to endure life, Dear Ones. You are here to participate in its beauty. Every smile you share, every kindness you extend, and every moment of genuine delight sends a ripple of loving energy into the world. Never underestimate the power of a joyful heart to inspire another. The world does not need more people who have forgotten how to laugh. It needs hearts willing to remember that love and joy are among the greatest gifts of creation. So today, find one thing that makes your soul smile. Do not overthink it. Simply enjoy it. And remember, Dear Ones, Heaven celebrates with you."
Angels Whisper: Joy is not the absence of life's storms. It is the rainbow that reminds your soul there is still beauty in the sky. Let yourself laugh, let yourself play, and never forget that God created a colorful world for you to enjoy.
Today, I promise to have more laughter in my life.
