I KNOW NOTHING

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” Socrates
There is something quite liberating about admitting that we don't know everything. In fact, the older I get and the more experiences I have, the more I realize just how little I truly know. And that is perfectly okay! I remember being younger and thinking that wisdom came with age. Surely, by the time we reach a certain number of birthdays, we should have life figured out. We should have all the answers, know which direction to take, and understand why things happen the way they do. Well, I have celebrated quite a few birthdays, and I can assure you that life still surprises me on a regular basis!
One of the greatest lessons I have learned on my spiritual journey is that wisdom is not about having all the answers. It is about being willing to ask the questions. During the last six years, I have encountered people from different cultures, religions, and walks of life. I have sat in sacred spaces, walked on ancient lands, and listened to stories that opened my heart and expanded my understanding. Just when I thought I had gained some insight into how this magnificent universe operates, another experience would come along and show me an entirely different perspective.
I have discovered that some of my greatest teachers have been people who never considered themselves teachers at all. Sometimes it was a stranger sharing a story, a child asking an innocent question, or an animal demonstrating unconditional love. Other times, it was Mother Nature herself reminding me that there is a divine intelligence at work far beyond anything my human mind can comprehend.
And then there are those moments when I have been absolutely certain that I knew what was best for me. I had the plan, the timeline, and the desired outcome all neatly arranged. I am quite sure God has had some hearty laughs over those moments! How many times have we prayed for something, believing we knew exactly how it should unfold, only to discover later that what happened was far more beautiful than anything we could have imagined? Perhaps the greatest obstacle to wisdom is our attachment to being right.
When we insist that our way is the only way, we close the door to new possibilities. When we believe we already know everything about another person, we stop listening to their story. When we decide that something is impossible, we may miss the miracle standing right in front of us. There is a beautiful freedom in saying, "I don't know, but I am willing to learn."
Imagine what our world would look like if more people approached each other with curiosity instead of judgment. What if we listened to understand rather than listening to respond? What if we could acknowledge that another person's experience might hold a piece of wisdom we have not yet discovered? I believe peace begins with this kind of humility. We do not have to agree on everything to honor each other's humanity. We do not have to understand every belief to respect the person holding it. And we certainly do not have to know the entire journey to take the next step in faith.
The angels have reminded me many times that trust does not require understanding. Sometimes we are simply asked to move forward, knowing that the path will reveal itself as we walk it.
Today, I find myself embracing the mystery of life more than ever. Occasionally an experience comes along that takes me out of the game for a moment. This happened just recently while in North Carolina. I do not know the purpose or the exact lesson but I also no longer feel the need to have every question answered or every situation explained. There is profound peace in allowing God to be God. Perhaps Socrates understood something that humanity is still learning. The moment we admit that we do not know everything is the moment we become open to infinite possibilities.
Dear Angels, how can we become wiser when there is so much about life that we do not understand?
Dear Ones, wisdom is not a destination where all questions have been answered. It is a sacred unfolding of awareness, understanding, and love. When you believe you know everything, you leave little room for discovery. When you release the need to be right, you create space for divine guidance to enter your awareness. We invite you to approach each day with the wonder of a child. Look at the world with fresh eyes. Listen to others with an open heart. Allow yourself to be surprised by the many ways truth reveals itself.
Do not confuse uncertainty with weakness. There is great strength in acknowledging that you are still learning. Even the most enlightened among you continue to grow in understanding. Remember, Dear Ones, you are not expected to know every answer or understand every twist and turn of your earthly journey. You are simply invited to remain open, loving, and willing. When the road ahead is unclear, trust the light that illuminates your next step. When another person challenges your beliefs, listen for the wisdom that may be hidden within their words. When life surprises you, welcome the opportunity to expand beyond what you thought possible. The universe is far too magnificent to be contained within the boundaries of human understanding. Release the need to know it all and embrace the joy of discovering more.
And above all, remember that you are never walking this journey alone. Divine wisdom is always available to the heart that is willing to listen. You need not know everything to live a beautiful, meaningful life. You need only know that you are loved, guided, and supported as you continue to grow.
Angels Whisper: The wisest soul is not the one who has collected the most answers, but the one who has learned to sit peacefully with the questions and trust that divine wisdom will reveal itself in perfect timing.
Today's Reflection: What is one thing in your life that you are trying desperately to understand or control? What might happen if, just for today, you released the need to have all the answers and allowed yourself to trust the unfolding? Perhaps the most powerful words we can speak today are simply, "I don't know, God, but I trust You." And perhaps, dear friends, that is where true wisdom begins.
