“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.” ― Robert Fulghum
Beliefs – are they our brain’s way of making sense of and navigating our complex world? Allie O’Shea says that a belief is “just a thought you keep on thinking.” No matter what you think about it, our belief system is real and we live our lives according to it. Sometimes when a belief is challenged we go to great lengths to defend it, even in the face of undeniable facts.
Dear Angels, I have had many instances in my own life where I questioned a belief that had been held for many years. I believe most of us humans go through periods where we take time to reflect and ask the questions that will allow us to tap into our intuitive knowledge. The words “seek and you shall find” come to mind as we go deeper into the excavation of our belief system. Should we be like Socrates whose main philosophy was “I know that I know nothing”?
Dear Ones, the question to be asked is why do you hold your belief to be true, not why is it true. Get to the root of your development of your beliefs and you will then have the opportunity to either hold onto it as is or revise it. There is no wrong or right. However, when you can come to the table with an open mind and accept that there may be things unknown that may affect your belief, then you can make your informed choice to carry on in that particular belief or come to terms with how you now perceive it to be. When you can step back and look with the awe and wonder of a child – or a philosopher perhaps – then you have reached a place where you can come to peace with your inner guidance system, i.e. your beliefs. All the answers are inside you, Dear Ones. Always follow your heart and you will find what you are seeking.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to stay in my heart and out of my head.
