EVERY EXPERIENCE IS A TEACHER

A woman in a purple jacket observes a framed text display with colorful illustrations in a tiled room, holding items in her hand.

“You are the sum total of everything you’ve ever seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot ― it’s all there. Everything influences each of us, and because of that I try to make sure that my experiences are positive.” ― Maya Angelou

There was a time in my life when I wanted nothing more than to erase parts of my past. I replayed moments in my mind, wishing I could delete choices, rewrite conversations, undo what felt like mistakes along the way. It was during one of those tender, vulnerable seasons that a mentor gently offered me a truth that shifted everything: You don’t have to erase anything that has happened to you. Not that we could, even if we tried. Every experience — the joyful, the painful, the confusing, the miraculous — has played a role in shaping who we are in this very moment. We need all of it. Nothing is wasted. That teaching has stayed with me through every chapter since. These past two months in India have deepened that knowing. This journey has been rich with lessons: discernment about who to trust, clarity about motives revealed, reminders to stay anchored in purpose even when emotions swirl. Each encounter, each surprise, each challenge carried wisdom. And as I look back, I realize something profound — I wouldn’t change a single thing. Not because everything was easy. But because everything was meaningful. I know in my heart this journey was divinely guided. India will forever hold a warm, sacred place within me. And like all of life’s experiences, I made the best choices I could with the information I had at the time. That is all any of us can ever do. Now, I choose to walk forward with a gentle curiosity — seeing each person I meet as a teacher, each moment as an invitation to grow, and each experience as part of my soul’s curriculum.

Dear Angels, how can we make peace with our past experiences — especially those we once wished away — and see them through the eyes of wisdom and compassion?

Dear Ones, nothing in your life has been accidental, and nothing has been outside the embrace of Divine Love. Even the moments you labeled as mistakes were sacred classrooms for your soul. You were never meant to erase them — you were meant to integrate them. Each experience carried a seed of awareness, a refinement of your discernment, a strengthening of your inner light. When you judge your past, you separate yourself from your own wholeness. When you bless it, you reclaim your power. Release the need to measure your journey by perfection. Growth is not linear, and wisdom is born through contrast. Trust that every step — even the uncertain ones — led you closer to remembering who you truly are. Look upon your experiences now with compassion. Let gratitude soften what once felt heavy. See each person as a messenger, each moment as a mirror, and each chapter as necessary. You are not defined by where you stumbled, but by how deeply you learned to rise. We walk with you always, illuminating the lessons, holding you in love, and reminding you that your journey has been — and continues to be — divinely guided.

Angels Whisper: Nothing in your life needs to be erased. Everything has already been redeemed by love. Honor your journey — it led you home.

Set aside quiet time today or this week and reflect on one past experience you once wished you could erase. Write the experience at the top of a page. Beneath it, answer these questions gently and without judgment:

What did this experience teach me about myself?

What strength, wisdom, or discernment did I gain because of it?

How did it guide me toward who I am today?

Close by writing this affirmation:

“I honor this experience as a sacred teacher. I release regret and reclaim the wisdom it gave me.”

Place your hand over your heart, take three slow breaths, and imagine angels surrounding that memory with soft light — not to change it, but to integrate it with love. This practice transforms the past from something you survived into something that now serves you.

Today, I promise I promise to honor the teacher in every experience.
