Arrived At Home

“In our speech we can try not to cause misunderstanding, hatred, or jealousy, but rather to increase understanding and mutual acceptance.” Being Peace by Thich Nhat Hahn

Thich Nhat Hahn “Thay” died today. As I think on what this master taught us all while he was walking on this earth, the many ways he not only spoke of peace but actually lived it, my heart is saddened at the loss of such a bright light that shone through the darkness. Yes, I fully understand that the light is not extinguished, that the human body is not built to last, and that we will forever benefit from what he left behind as he exited.

That knowledge does not stop me from shedding a tear as I listened to his loved ones and followers celebrate his life through song and chanting tonight. It gave me comfort to listen to their heartfelt songs which carried the messages he so lovingly taught.

A few days ago I wrote about Thay in my blog called “Peaceful.” I heard him on a soul level wanting that message to go out before he passed. I know it was him today who helped me after I unintentionally hurt someone’s feelings, nudging me to make it right. I hear him even now telling me to be a better human.

I want to share these words from the Discourse On Love from Chanting From The Heart Book 3:

"He or she who wants to attain peace

should practice being upright, humble, and capable of using loving speech.

He or she will know how to live simply and happily, with senses calmed,

without being covetous and carried away by the emotions of the majority.

Let him or her not do anything that will be disapproved of by the wise ones.

And this is what he or she contemplates:

May everyone be happy and safe, and may all hearts be filled with joy.

May all beings live in security and in peace –

beings who are frail or strong, tall or short, big or small, invisible or visible,

near or faraway, already born, or yet to be born.

May all of them dwell in perfect tranquility.

Let no one do harm to anyone.

Let no one put the life of anyone in danger.

Let no one, out of anger or ill will, wish anyone any harm.

Just as a mother loves and protects her only child at the risk of her own life,

cultivate boundless love to offer to all living beings in the entire cosmos.

Let our boundless love pervade the whole universe, above, below, and across.

Our love will know no obstacles.

Our heart will be absolutely free from hatred and enmity.

Whether standing or walking, sitting or lying, as long as we are awake,

we should maintain this mindfulness of love in our own heart.

This is the noblest way of living. "

Dear Angels, I am so happy that there is a new soul walking in the heavenly realm tonight. I know there is a huge celebration going on there. How do we carry on this beloved master’s legacy here on earth?

Dear Ones, sometimes masters come to your earth plane for a minute because they feel the immense desire to guide, to teach and to do so by example. What you witnessed in this beloved master was him allowing this glimpse of the heavenly realm, just as other masters have done before him. We will invite you Dear Ones to continue to honor this master’s teachings by understanding his message of personal as well as social responsibility, to not only smile and hug but also to reach a hand out to help a brother or sister rise up, to honor the earth you dwell on and respect its resources, and to live your life as described in his discourses. Be not saddened that he no longer walks among you. It would be more sad if his teachings left with him, which they did not. They are readily available for anyone to behold and learn from. Learn well Dear Ones.

Thank you, Angels. The altar sign at the celebration of Thay’s life reads “arrived at home.” Welcome home beloved Master Thay, job well done.

Thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
