A CHRISTMAS LESSON IN LETTING GO

A woman in an ornate green dress stands joyfully by a lit Christmas tree. The room is festive with stockings and lights. Text: "Merry Christmas, Love, Teri."

“When the answer is simple, God is speaking.” Albert Einstein

The angels have said it many times—and gently reminded me again and again—that we humans have a remarkable talent for overcomplicating what was meant to be simple. I smile as I admit how true that is. On Christmas Eve, far from my home country, I found myself attending a midnight Mass in Goa, India with dear friends. Churches are abundant here, each one glowing with light and devotion, adorned beautifully for the holy night. My friend Karuna had searched for a service that might be in English or bilingual. Trusting that guidance, we arrived, found our seats, and settled into the warm evening air for an outdoor Mass before a stunning church façade. The singing began—and immediately I realized I didn’t recognize the language. Neither did my friends. The readings followed, again unfamiliar, not translated, yet clearly understood by many around us who responded in unison at sacred moments. For a brief instant, my mind wanted to label the experience as “different from what I expected.” And then something softened.

I chose to simply participate.

It didn’t matter that I didn’t know the words.

It didn’t matter that the melodies were unfamiliar.

It didn’t matter that my expectations had not been met.

As my thinking calmed, understanding arrived—not through language, but through presence. I could see the Christmas story unfolding. I watched as the priest lovingly blessed the Christ child. I recognized the sanctity of the bread and wine as communion was prepared. Without knowing the exact words, I knew exactly what was happening. It was a holy lesson in acceptance and surrender. When we insist that something must look a certain way, sound a certain way, or be delivered in a familiar language, we quietly close the door to possibility. But when we release those expectations and allow ourselves to simply be, understanding flows effortlessly. The moment I allowed myself to “just be,” everything made sense. How simple.

Dear Angels, why do we make life—and even sacred moments—so complicated when truth feels so simple?

Dear Ones, because the mind seeks control, and the soul seeks connection. Simplicity is the language of the Divine—it does not require translation. When you release the need to understand with the intellect, you awaken the wisdom of the heart. Presence is where clarity lives. Surrender is where peace enters. Trust that when something feels gentle, obvious, and quietly complete, you are listening to God. You need not strive—only receive.

Angels Whisper: Let go of the need to know everything. Be present, be open, and be willing. In simplicity, miracles speak softly—and clearly.

Today, I promise to just be and allow the miracles to happen.

Merry Christmas everyone!
