THERE IS WISDOM IN HARD LESSONS

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou
There is such deep wisdom wrapped inside these simple words. They remind us that life is not about perfection—it is about growth. It is about becoming. I have made my fair share of mistakes in this lifetime. Moments when I truly did not have all the pieces of the puzzle, yet I moved forward anyway, doing the best I could with what I knew at the time. Looking back, I can see how those decisions shaped me, stretched me, and gently nudged me toward a higher understanding. There have also been moments when I stood in the uncomfortable space of accountability—not only for my own actions, but in situations where others were unwilling to take responsibility for theirs.
I remember a time when I worked in a corporate environment, holding a position of responsibility over a department. It was a place where titles mattered more than truth, and appearances often outweighed integrity. My supervisor struggled to admit when he was wrong. One day, a situation arose where I had acted based on his direct instructions. When questioned by upper leadership, I chose honesty. I acknowledged my role, explaining that my decision was guided by what I had been told. But in that moment, truth stood alone. There was no ownership on his part—only silence where accountability should have been. The responsibility was left at my feet, and I became the convenient explanation. That experience left a mark… but more importantly, it left a lesson.
The world will not always reflect fairness. There will be moments when integrity feels like a lonely path. Yet even in those moments, we are being given an opportunity—not to become hardened, but to become wiser. The lesson was not about blame. It was about discernment. It was about trust. It was about choosing who—and what—I align with moving forward. When we “know better,” it is not simply about correcting behavior. It is about expanding awareness. It is about recognizing the energy of a situation, the character of those around us, and the truth within our own heart.
Knowing better invites us to set clearer boundaries, choose environments that honor integrity, trust our inner guidance more deeply and stand in our truth, even when it is uncomfortable. Doing better, then, becomes a natural expression of that awareness. It is not about judging the past version of ourselves. That version did exactly what it needed to do to bring us here. Instead, it is about honoring the evolution of our soul. Each experience—every misstep, every moment of discomfort, every lesson in trust—is part of the sacred curriculum of our lives. And the angels remind us… nothing is wasted.
Dear Angels, how do we move forward when we realize we could have done things differently?
Dear One, growth is not measured by your past actions, but by your present awareness. When you see more clearly, it is because your light has expanded. Do not use this awareness as a tool for self-judgment. Use it as a compass. Every experience has brought you wisdom. Even those that felt unfair or painful have strengthened your discernment and deepened your compassion. Release the need to rewrite the past. Instead, bless it. When you know better, you are being invited into alignment with your higher self. Walk forward gently, choosing with intention, speaking with honesty, and trusting that your soul is always guiding you home.
Angels Whisper: You were never meant to be perfect—you were meant to grow. Honor who you were, embrace who you are, and trust who you are becoming.
Today, I promise to honor all my experiences that brought me to the person I am today.
