This weekend, my friend’s daughter graduates from college. What an exciting moment to witness — the closing of one chapter and the opening of another filled with possibility, dreams and unknown adventures. There is something beautiful about seeing a young soul standing at the edge of a brand new beginning with the world stretched out before her like an unopened map.

It made me reflect on my own college graduation years ago. I chose not to participate in the pomp and circumstance. At the time, it simply did not resonate with me. Yet whether I walked across a stage or not did not diminish the value of what I had learned. The education I received became one of the stepping stones that prepared me for the work I would later do as a life coach and spiritual teacher. Preparation matters. Education matters. Study matters.

The angels have often shown me that every season of learning is sacred because it equips us with tools we may one day desperately need. Knowledge gives us direction. It helps us build confidence and understanding. It opens doors that otherwise might remain closed. Yet there is another kind of education that cannot be found inside a classroom. Life itself becomes the greatest teacher.

There are lessons no textbook can fully explain — heartbreak, courage, surrender, forgiveness, resilience, compassion and faith. We may study concepts intellectually, but it is only through walking through the fires of experience that wisdom becomes alive within us. Experience carves understanding into the soul in a way nothing else can. A person can read hundreds of books about peace, but it is the soul who has survived chaos and still chooses love that truly understands peace. We prepare ourselves through study, but we transform ourselves through living.

The angels remind me that nothing we go through is wasted. Every challenge, every triumph, every setback and every miracle becomes part of our spiritual education. We begin to realize that life is not testing us nearly as much as it is teaching us. Each experience strengthens us with a quiet knowingness deep within — the understanding that we are capable of overcoming far more than we once believed. Perhaps this is why growth often feels uncomfortable. We are expanding beyond information into wisdom. Beyond theory into embodiment. Tomorrow does indeed belong to those who prepare for it today, but preparation is not only about degrees and achievements. It is also about preparing the heart. Preparing the spirit. Preparing ourselves to meet life with grace, courage and compassion no matter what unfolds.

Dear Angels, how do we best prepare ourselves for the future?

Dear Ones, prepare not only your minds, but your hearts. Fill yourselves with wisdom, but also with kindness. Learn the ways of the world, but do not neglect the ways of the soul. Every experience carries a lesson, and every lesson carries an opportunity for growth. Do not fear the unknown future, for you are being prepared by each moment you are living now. Trust that nothing is wasted in the hands of the Divine. What you learn through both study and experience becomes light that will guide your path forward. Walk forward with courage, for your soul is wiser today than it was yesterday.
