MAGIC MESSENGERS

"Magic is seeing wonder in nature's every little thing, seeing how wonderful the fireflies are and how magical are the dragonflies." - Ama H.Vanniarachchy
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is to slow down long enough to notice the magic that surrounds us every day. Nature is constantly speaking, teaching, and reminding us that miracles are not reserved for grand events. They are woven into the smallest details of creation.
I have always admired dragonflies. Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains, we called them "snake feeders." Like many childhood tales, I accepted the story without question and believed they somehow fed snakes—creatures I have never been particularly fond of. Yet even then, I found dragonflies fascinating. Their iridescent wings shimmered in the sunlight, and they seemed to move with a grace that made them appear almost otherworldly. Years later, I had an experience that deepened my appreciation for these remarkable creatures. I was standing outside talking on my phone when a dragonfly flew directly toward me and landed right on the phone itself. It stayed there as if it had important business to conduct. I laughed and thought, "Perhaps it needs to make a phone call." But as I reflected on the moment, another thought came to mind. Maybe it wasn't trying to make a call at all. Maybe it was delivering a message. That possibility felt much more likely.
Over the years, I have experienced countless moments when nature seemed to communicate in mysterious ways. Butterflies appear at meaningful times. Birds arrive with uncanny timing. Dragonflies seem especially gifted at showing up precisely when I need a reminder that I am not alone.
Recently, I watched one of my favorite movies, Dragonfly. In the film, the dragonfly serves as a messenger attempting to reach a loved one from beyond the veil. The symbolism resonated deeply with me because it mirrors what I have often felt in my own life. Perhaps dragonflies are reminders that there is more to this world than what we can see. Their life cycle itself carries a powerful spiritual lesson. Dragonflies spend much of their lives underwater before emerging transformed into winged creatures of beauty and light. They remind us that transformation often happens beneath the surface long before anyone can see the results. How many times have we gone through difficult seasons only to emerge stronger, wiser, and more aligned with our soul's purpose? Like the dragonfly, we too are constantly evolving.
The same can be said for fireflies. Their tiny lights illuminate the darkness, reminding us that even the smallest spark can make a difference. One little flash may seem insignificant, but when hundreds of fireflies gather together, they create a breathtaking display of light. Isn't that true for humanity as well? Each act of kindness, each prayer, each loving thought may seem small, but together they create a wave of light that transforms the world.
Magic isn't something hidden away in fairy tales. It is present in every sunrise, every butterfly, every dragonfly, every firefly dancing through the evening air. It is found in the whispers of the wind and the songs of birds. It is present whenever we choose to see with eyes of wonder. The more we pay attention, the more magical life becomes.
Dear Angels, are dragonflies and other creatures truly bringing us messages?
Dear Ones, all of creation is connected through a divine web of consciousness. Animals, insects, birds, and even the elements participate in this sacred dance. Sometimes a dragonfly is simply a dragonfly. Yet sometimes it arrives at the perfect moment to awaken remembrance within your heart. The message is not always in the creature itself but in what it stirs within you. When you notice a sense of peace, comfort, joy, or wonder as you encounter one of nature's messengers, pay attention. The universe often speaks softly through symbols and synchronicities. Remain open. Remain curious. Most importantly, remain grateful.
The more wonder you allow into your life, the more magic you will discover has been there all along.
Angels Whisper: Look closely, dear one. The miracles you seek are already dancing around you on delicate wings. Wonder is not something you find—it is something you awaken within yourself.
Today, I promise to open my eyes to the wonder of the world around me.
