The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.”
Many are becoming aware that spiritual enlightenment requires the complete purification of the mind. There are different teachers who teach principles and practices related to this, and it can be difficult for us as we seek further understanding of enlightenment to determine which elements are essential to our progress. I personally think that discernment is a key factor here. Using our spiritual gifts, we can discern if something rings true or if it does not resonate with our inner spirit. The Indian sage Ramana Maharshi likened spiritual teachings to thorns used to remove other thorns.
Dear Angels, it is important to look at our own “image from the mirror” and become so familiar with who and what we are that discernment is second nature to us. We can be so aware of the picture of our lives that when a puzzle piece does not fit, we know it immediately instead of searching for the empty space where it might fit in. Adyashanti says,“Many people think that it is the function of a spiritual teaching to provide answers to life’s biggest questions, but actually the opposite is true. The primary task of any good spiritual teaching is not to answer your questions, but to question your answers. For it is your conscious and unconscious assumptions and beliefs that distort your perception and cause you to see separation and division where there is actually only unity and completeness.”
Dear Ones, we would say to you to question everything. This does not show a lack of trust – that is not what we are referring to. It is in questioning that you receive answers, which in turn feeds your faith and trust. Open up to possibilities without thinking that you know everything. While you indeed have all the information inside you in your DNA makeup, you have obscured the access to it and thus need to ask questions in order for it to be revealed. Sometimes other people can spark the questions that will illuminate the answers. Dear Ones, realize that what happens is a remembrance of the truth, not a new revelation. Help each other to remember. Talk among yourselves and share your ideas and insights. This will help your evolutionary process and will speed up your enlightened state. Those who are ready to proceed will understand these teachings.
