LAUGHTER’S ROLE IN HEALING

White dog with a black and orange harness, sitting outdoors on a wicker chair, eyes closed, mouth open, looking happy. Blurred trees in background.

“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” ― Nicolas Chamfort

There is something so beautifully simple—and yet profoundly powerful—about laughter. It asks nothing of us except that we let go, even if only for a moment, and allow joy to bubble up from within. I don’t know much about Nicolas Chamfort, but I wholeheartedly agree with his observation. In my own life, laughter has been one of my greatest companions through both sunshine and storm. Whenever I have faced some of life’s hardest challenges, it was humor that gently carried me across the rough waters. People who knew me when I faced the challenge of breast cancer still send me little funnies regularly. My friend Norman always has a joke ready for me when we talk. All of this makes me realize that there are humans who care about my well-being just as the angels do.

There were moments in my life when tears felt inevitable… when the weight of the world pressed in so tightly that breathing felt like effort. And yet, somehow, a laugh would sneak in. A silly thought. A shared joke. A memory that made my heart smile. And in that instant, everything shifted. Laughter is not denial. It is not pretending everything is perfect. It is a sacred release—a reminder that even in the midst of struggle, light still exists. It is the soul’s way of saying, “I am still here. I am still alive. And joy is still possible.” The angels often nudge us toward lightness, even when we are tempted to sit in heaviness. They do not dismiss our pain—but they lovingly remind us that joy and sorrow can coexist. That healing does not always come through effort… sometimes it comes through laughter.

Think about children for a moment. How easily they laugh. How quickly they move from tears to giggles. They have not yet learned to hold onto heaviness. They trust the flow of emotion, allowing joy to return again and again. What if we gave ourselves permission to do the same? What if laughter became part of our spiritual practice? A giggle during meditation. A smile during a difficult conversation. A willingness to find something—anything—that brings a spark of joy. Because laughter raises our vibration. It softens our energy. It opens the heart. And in that open space, healing can enter.

Dear Angels, how can we embrace laughter even when life feels heavy?

Dear Ones, laughter is one of the purest expressions of divine light moving through you. It is not separate from your spirituality—it is an essential part of it. When you laugh, you release resistance. You create space. You allow the natural flow of love to return. Do not wait for everything to be perfect before you laugh. Instead, let laughter be the bridge that carries you back to peace. Even the smallest smile invites us closer. Even the quietest chuckle shifts your energy. We see your strength, but we also celebrate your joy. Both are sacred. Both are needed. Let yourself be light, dear one. Let yourself laugh.

Angel Whisper: Laughter is the music of your soul—let it play often, and watch your world soften into grace.

Today, I choose to laugh more, love more openly, and allow healing to unfold with grace, supported by the power of humor.
