BREAKING FREE FROM THE SHELL

“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.” C. S. Lewis
When you look at an egg’s potential, it is quite amazing. Inside that fragile shell rests the blueprint for life. What appears still and ordinary from the outside contains movement, growth, and transformation waiting for the right moment. When C. S. Lewis used the egg as a metaphor for human beings, he offered a profound truth: each of us carries a divine potential that longs to emerge. But the shell can feel safe. The shell is familiar. It protects us from the unknown. It allows us to remain comfortable, even if we feel confined. Yet the shell that once protected the life within eventually becomes the very thing that limits it. If the chick never breaks free, it cannot become what it was created to be.
The same is true for us. We often remain inside invisible shells made of old beliefs, fear of change, past wounds, or the expectations of others. We convince ourselves that it is safer not to grow, safer not to risk, safer not to spread our wings. But the soul was never designed to remain contained. Growth asks something of us. It asks us to stretch beyond what feels comfortable. It asks us to trust the unseen possibilities waiting beyond the shell. Transformation can feel messy and uncertain, much like the struggle of a chick pushing against the egg that has held it. Yet that very struggle is what gives the chick strength to live outside the shell.
Our spiritual awakening works in much the same way. The angels often remind us that life gently nudges us toward expansion. Sometimes those nudges feel like challenges, changes, or moments that shake us awake. They are invitations to hatch into the fuller expression of who we truly are. Each of us holds seeds of compassion, wisdom, creativity, and divine love. These gifts are not meant to stay hidden. They are meant to emerge and bless the world. So the real question becomes: will we remain inside the shell of who we have been, or will we trust the process of becoming who we truly are?
Dear Angels, how do we know when it is time to break out of the shell and grow into our higher potential?
Dear Ones, every soul carries within it a sacred rhythm of awakening. The desire to grow does not come from the mind alone; it rises from the soul like a quiet knocking from within the shell. When you feel restless with the old ways of being, when what once satisfied you no longer feels aligned, when your heart whispers that there must be more — these are the signs that the hatching has begun. Growth often begins with discomfort, not certainty. The shell that once felt protective begins to feel restrictive. This is not something to fear. It is the natural movement of your spirit expanding. Do not rush the process, and do not judge yourself if the cracking of the shell feels slow. Even the smallest fracture allows light to enter.
You were never meant to remain contained by old identities, limiting beliefs, or the expectations of others. You are beings of divine potential, continually evolving. The breaking of the shell is not destruction. It is liberation. Trust the stirring within you. That impulse toward growth is your soul remembering how to fly.
Angels Whisper: You are not meant to remain inside the shell of yesterday. The longing you feel for something more is the sound of your wings forming. Trust the gentle cracking of the old patterns and beliefs that once held you. You are not breaking apart. You are hatching into who you have always been meant to become.
Today, I promise to break free of the shell that holds me back and fly like I was always intended to do.
