I was reminded today that there are differing concepts of what mindfulness is. The dictionary definition tells us that it is the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. Well, no wonder we have different opinions as that definition is very vague. What is the “something” we are to be aware of? Mindfulness, I believe, is the art of paying attention to the present moment with non-judgmental awareness. It involves deliberately shifting our focus from past regrets or future worries to fully experiencing the present, including our thoughts, emotions, sensations, and the environment around us.

Dear Angels, mindfulness is a conscious awareness as we discover who and what we are. When we focus on that awareness, we are invited to observe our experiences with more openness to learn the lessons brought forth. Sometimes, however, we resist and rebel against what is being taught. These are the times we struggle and make the experience more difficult than it has to be.

Dear Ones, part of the higher consciousness is acceptance. Allow yourself to be fully immersed in what is before you. Many times you deny yourself the opportunity to fully grasp your worthiness. As you make your choices, always observe the path you choose without judgment. Your choices are neither good or bad, they simply are your decisions. When you lose all criticism of how you are handling life, you will come to more of an awareness of what self-love and self-care look like and how important they truly are in your life lessons.
