UNBECOMING

Pink flamingos stand gracefully on a gravel path near lush greenery and a pond, their reflections shimmering in the water.

"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place." – Paulo Coelho

Ah that illusive “self” that us humans are so obsessed with finding! We spend so much time putting ourselves and our world under a microscope and running around in circles, and yet no matter how hard we look, what extremes we go to – there we are. The self we seek has never been missing. What if we just stood still in the silence of the now moment? What if we focused on being present wherever we may be in any given time and space and observe? It may be the revelation we hope for, pray for, strive so hard to achieve! In letting go of the “have to” of seeking, our perspective may change to a “get to” explore possibilities.

There is a gentle irony in our human journey. We are not here to become something new. We are here to remember what has always been true. Yet along the way, layers are added—beliefs, expectations, labels, fears, and identities shaped by the world around us. These layers are not who we are. They are simply what we have collected. What if, instead of striving so hard to find ourself, we allowed ourself to simply be? What if we paused…breathed…and stood still in the sacred silence of the present moment? In that stillness, something remarkable happens.

The noise quiets.

The masks soften.

The striving dissolves.

And what remains… is simply us – the person we were searching for all along.

Perhaps the journey is not about chasing a destination, but about gently releasing all that is not aligned with our truth. Each moment becomes less about “What do I need to become?” and more about “What can I lovingly let go of?” This is where the shift happens—from have to… to get to. We no longer feel pressured to discover something outside of ourself. Instead, we become curious. We begin to explore the beauty of our own being with compassion and wonder. And in that sacred exploration, we remember…we were never lost.  We were only covered.

Dear Angels, how do we know what parts of ourselves are not truly who we are, and how do we release them?

Dear Ones, what is not truly you will never feel like peace. It may feel familiar. It may feel conditioned. It may even feel “safe.” But it will not feel like truth. Your truth feels expansive, light, and freeing. It does not require you to prove, perform, or protect. It simply is. Begin by noticing what feels heavy. What feels forced. What feels like effort without joy. These are your clues.

You do not need to fight these aspects or judge them. Simply observe them with love. When you bring awareness without resistance, what is not aligned begins to fall away naturally. Release is not something you must force. It is something you allow. Like leaves falling from a tree, what no longer serves you will gently drift away when the time is right. Trust the process of your unfolding. You are not becoming someone new. You are revealing who you have always been.

Angels Whisper: Beloved, you are not lost—you are layered. With each breath of awareness, you gently release what you are not, revealing the radiant truth of who you have always been. Rest in the knowing… you are already whole.

Today, I promise to see myself as whole.
