BLOOMING AFTER FORTY

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” — Henri Matiss
Today as I sat in meditation with my dear friend Ruth, we were guided to explore the sacred number 40—a number woven throughout time and scripture. We reflected on how forty symbolizes testing, trials, and transformation. It is the cocoon between who we were and who we are becoming. As I pondered this, memories of my own fortieth year came flooding in. It was not an easy time. Storms raged within and around me—confusion, heartbreak, and uncertainty. Yet, as I looked closer, I could see that each storm was stripping away what was no longer needed. Like petals falling to make room for new bloom, that season of testing prepared the soil for a more authentic version of me to emerge.
Then came 41—the dawn after the long night, the first golden ray that whispered, “You made it through.” It was in that year that I discovered meditation, channeling, and the wisdom of Seth—teachings that opened my understanding of how vast and layered the soul truly is. Seth’s words about the self being like “the various skins of an onion, or segments of an orange, all connected through the one vitality,” resonated deeply. It helped me see that the fragmented parts of my life were never separate—they were simply expressions of the same divine wholeness, each one growing from the Source.
It was also the year I met the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, whose light continues to guide me still. He reintroduced me to God—not as a distant deity, but as the Beloved presence living within me. It was a year of renewal. A year of seeing the flowers that had always been there.
Dear Angels, why is it that so often we can only see the flowers after the storm has passed? Why must our greatest awakenings follow our deepest trials?
Dear Ones, because transformation blooms in surrendered soil. The heart that has been tilled by trial becomes fertile ground for divine grace. Each test, each tear, is a drop of water softening the seed of your becoming. You see the flowers not because they suddenly appeared, but because your eyes have learned to recognize beauty through the lens of gratitude. When you pass through the fire and still choose love, when you walk through the valley and still look up, you awaken the garden of your soul. Remember: the flowers were always there. Your sight simply needed to open.
Angels Whisper: The flowers of grace bloom in the soil of surrender. Look with the eyes of love, and every moment becomes a garden.
Today, I promise to continue to bloom.
