AWAKENING AWE

A lone bison stands in a grassy, snow-dusted field with a barren tree in the background under an overcast sky, creating a serene mood.

“When the people lack a sense of awe, there will be trouble in the empire.  Lao Tzu

There is a quiet wisdom in these words that feels especially relevant now. Awe is not something we talk about often, yet it is something our souls recognize instantly. Awe is the moment your breath catches as the sun rises. It is the hush that falls when you witness kindness where you expected cruelty. It is the feeling of being small in the best possible way—held by something vast, loving, and intelligent. When awe is missing, life becomes transactional. People become problems to solve instead of souls to honor. Nature becomes a resource instead of a sacred teacher. Time becomes an enemy rather than a gift. And slowly, almost imperceptibly, the heart hardens. Trouble in the “empire” does not always mean collapse of governments or systems. Often it begins much closer to home—in families, communities, and inner worlds where reverence has been replaced by rush, comparison, and fear. Without awe, we forget how to pause. We forget how to listen. We forget that we are not separate from one another or from the divine intelligence that breathes life into all things. Awe invites humility, and humility opens the door to compassion. When we stand in awe, we recognize that we do not have all the answers—and we don’t need to. We become willing to learn, to soften, to be guided. Awe restores balance because it realigns us with what truly matters.

Dear Angels, how can we restore a sense of awe in a world that often feels overwhelmed and divided?

Dear Ones, awe is not lost—it is merely waiting to be remembered. Awe lives in stillness, and stillness is a choice you can make even in the busiest of days. When you slow your breath and open your senses, you invite us closer. Awe is awakened when you look beyond appearances and recognize the sacred spark in yourself and others. You do not restore awe by force or persuasion. You restore it through presence. When you meet life with curiosity instead of judgment, wonder replaces fear. When you honor the ordinary moments as holy, the extraordinary reveals itself naturally. Each time you choose reverence over reaction, you help heal not only your own heart, but the collective field around you. Remember, the empire you are here to tend first is your inner one. When awe reigns there, peace follows outward in gentle, powerful waves.

Angels Whisper:  Pause today. Look up. Look within. Let wonder soften your heart, for awe is the doorway through which peace returns.

Today, I promise to be aware of the awe-inspiring moments and pause to reflect on them.
