WRITE YOUR OWN ENDING

I’ve often said this very same thing—that we are living in a movie and we are writing the script. The interesting thing is that until we realize we are holding the pen, it can certainly feel as though someone else is writing our story. We look at circumstances, relationships, disappointments, illnesses, financial struggles, or unexpected detours and wonder, Who wrote this scene? I certainly didn’t ask for it! Sometimes it feels as though someone else is pulling the strings and “making” things happen to us.
But what if the power is not necessarily in controlling every scene? What if our power lies in deciding what happens next? We may not have consciously chosen every experience that has appeared in our lives. Other people have free will. Life happens. Storms come. Plans change. Doors close without explanation. Yet even in those moments, we still have something incredibly powerful available to us: choice.
We choose the meaning we give the experience.
We choose whether we remain stuck in one scene or move forward.
We choose whether yesterday gets to write tomorrow.
I think that is one of the greatest spiritual awakenings we can experience—the moment we stop seeing ourselves only as a character in the story and realize that we are also participating in its creation. Imagine sitting in a theater watching the movie of your life. There you are on the screen: the little child with dreams, the teenager trying to figure things out, the adult stumbling, learning, loving, losing, beginning again. There are scenes that make you laugh and others that still bring tears to your eyes.
But the movie isn't over. There are blank pages in the script. What are you going to write on them? Maybe your character has been afraid for a very long time. Write a scene where courage enters. Maybe there has been heartbreak. Write love back into the story. Maybe you have spent years believing that you aren't enough. Give your character a new line: “I AM worthy. I AM loved. I AM capable. I AM ready.”
Words matter. Thoughts matter. Beliefs matter. They become the dialogue we repeat until eventually we begin living them. Jim Henson says, “Keep believing, keep pretending.” I love that because sometimes we have to imagine ourselves into a new reality before we can see it with our physical eyes. We hold the vision. We feel what it would be like to already be there. We walk through today carrying the energy of the ending we desire. That isn't denying reality. It is refusing to believe that the present scene is the final scene.
I have certainly experienced chapters in my own life when I could not see how the story would turn around. Yet time after time, God placed another person in the scene, opened another door, redirected the path, or whispered, “Keep going.” And so I did. That is what faith asks of us. Keep going when you don't know the next line. Keep believing when the scenery hasn't changed yet. Keep trusting when the plot makes absolutely no sense. We don't have to know every scene between here and the ending. Perhaps that is where we leave room for God to be the Divine Director. We show up, listen for guidance, make our choices, speak our words with intention, and trust that something greater is working alongside us.
So today, look at the script you have been writing. Are you repeating an old storyline simply because it is familiar? Are you giving someone else the pen? Are you allowing one difficult chapter to determine how the entire movie ends? Take your pen back, Dear One. There is more of your story waiting to be lived.
Dear Angels, how do we become more intentional creators of the story of our lives while still trusting God's plan for us?
Dear Ones, you are not here merely to watch life unfold before you. You came to participate in creation. Every thought you nurture, every word you speak, every choice you make adds another line to the story you are living. Do not fear the scenes that did not unfold as you expected. Some of your greatest redirections have come disguised as endings.
Write with love.
Write with faith.
Write with compassion.
Write from the truth of who you are instead of the fear of who you once believed yourself to be.
And then leave room in your script for miracles.
You do not need to know how every scene will unfold. Walk forward with God, listen to the whispers of your heart, and trust the Divine guidance that comes one step at a time. The story is still being written. Keep believing.
Angels Whisper: Beloved, one difficult scene does not determine the ending of your story. Turn the page. Pick up the pen. God is beside you, and there are still miracles waiting to enter the script.
And so it is.
