THE MIRACLE OF BECOMING

“You do not just wake up and become the butterfly. Growth is a process.” Rupi Kaur
There is something almost magical about watching a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis. It reminds us that the most beautiful transformations in life rarely happen overnight. They unfold one small step, one unseen moment, one act of surrender at a time. I have had the privilege of watching the entire process—from the tiny caterpillar crawling across the milkweed to the quiet stillness of the chrysalis, and finally to the breathtaking moment when a butterfly spreads its wings for the very first time. Every time I witness it, I am reminded of our own spiritual journey.
The caterpillar seems so ordinary. It spends its days firmly attached to the earth, slowly inching along while eating leaf after leaf of milkweed. There is nothing about its appearance that hints at the incredible beauty waiting to emerge. If we judged only by what we could see in that moment, we might never imagine that this little creature was destined to soar through the skies. How often do we do the same thing with ourselves? We look at where we are instead of where we are becoming. We judge our lives by our current circumstances, our struggles, our mistakes, or our limitations. We forget that God often plants extraordinary potential inside what appears to be ordinary. Then comes the chrysalis.
From the outside, it appears that nothing is happening. There is no movement. No evidence of progress. Yet inside, one of nature's greatest miracles is taking place. The caterpillar is literally dissolving into something entirely new. Every cell is being rearranged to create wings, delicate legs, vibrant colors, and a completely different way of living.
Many of us have experienced our own chrysalis seasons. Perhaps it was an illness that forced us to slow down. Maybe it was the ending of a relationship, the loss of a job, or a period where we felt disconnected from our purpose. These seasons can feel lonely and confusing because the transformation is happening where no one else can see it—not even us. We may wonder why life feels so still. We may question whether anything is changing at all. But just because we cannot see the growth doesn't mean it isn't happening. Some of the greatest spiritual work occurs in silence. It is during these quiet seasons that our faith deepens, our compassion expands, our priorities shift, and our connection with the Divine grows stronger. The old parts of ourselves begin to fall away so that something entirely new can emerge.
One of the most fascinating facts about butterflies is that they must struggle to free themselves from the chrysalis. If someone were to "help" by cutting it open, the butterfly would never develop the strength needed to fly. The struggle pumps fluid into its wings, making flight possible. The same is true for us. We often pray for our struggles to disappear, yet those very challenges are strengthening our spiritual wings. They teach resilience, patience, forgiveness, faith, and trust. Without those experiences, we might never become the person we came here to be.
Our soul did not come into this lifetime to remain a caterpillar. We came here to grow, to evolve, to discover the magnificence that has always existed within us. Every challenge, every lesson, every joyful moment, and every heartbreak becomes part of the masterpiece God is creating. Growth is not always comfortable. Transformation is not always visible. But both are always sacred.
So if you find yourself in a season where nothing seems to be happening, trust the process. Continue nourishing your soul with love, gratitude, prayer, and kindness. Be patient with yourself. Honor every step of the journey. One day you will look back and realize that what felt like being stuck was actually becoming. The butterfly was always there. It simply needed time to emerge.
Dear Angels, how do we trust the process when we cannot yet see the outcome?
Dear Ones, every soul carries the blueprint of its highest expression within it, just as every caterpillar carries the blueprint of the butterfly. You need not force your becoming; you need only cooperate with it. Trust each experience, even those wrapped in uncertainty, for nothing is wasted in the hands of the Divine. Your moments of stillness are not empty—they are filled with unseen miracles. Continue choosing love over fear, faith over doubt, and hope over despair. Your wings are being prepared even now.
Angels Whisper: Be patient with your becoming. Heaven sees the butterfly long before the wings unfold.
Today, I promise to soar like the butterfly that I am.
