STUBBORN OR STRONG – LISTENING TO SPIRIT GUIDANCE

“Permit yourself to change your mind when something is no longer working for you.” - Nedra Glover Tawwab
There have been many moments in my life when I have been called “stubborn.” In my travels with Auntie Jean she once told me that I was the most stubborn person she knew and I said the same about her. We would often laugh at ourselves and the shenanigans we got into. Sometimes we said it with frustration… and sometimes with admiration. If I am being honest, I can see both sides of it.
There were times in my life when my stubbornness carried me through situations that felt impossible. When others said, “Give up,” something deep within me said, “Not yet.” That inner fire kept me moving forward when the path ahead looked uncertain or even blocked. And yet… there were other times when that same stubbornness held me back. There were times when I held tightly to an idea, a belief, or even a hurt—long after it was time to release it. Moments when I resisted change, even when my soul was gently nudging me toward something better. Understanding this has been a lifelong journey and what I have learned is that stubbornness is not the problem. It is simply strength without direction.
When we look deeper, stubbornness carries a powerful energy. It is determination. It is resilience. It is the refusal to give up on what matters. This energy has helped me stay committed to my purpose. It has given me the strength to continue the Peace On Earth Tour even when challenges arose. It also helps me to trust the messages from the angels when they didn’t always make logical sense. There is something sacred about that kind of devotion.
But like all things, when out of balance, it shifts. Stubbornness can become resistance to growth, fear disguised as certainty or a wall that keeps love, wisdom, and new opportunities out. I have seen this in my own life when I held onto being “right” instead of being at peace. When I chose control instead of trust. And every time, the lesson was the same. Flow brings peace. Resistance brings struggle.
The angels have shown me that what we often call stubbornness is actually misdirected strength. It is not something to eliminate; it is something to refine. Instead of asking, “How do I stop being stubborn?” I now ask, “Where can I soften while staying true to myself?” The beautiful balance available to us is to be rooted in truth while remaining open to divine guidance Like a tree—firm in its foundation, yet flexible in the wind.
Dear Angels, how do we know when to stand firm and when to let go?
Dear Ones, you are never asked to abandon your truth—only to release your attachment to how it must unfold. Standing firm comes from love, clarity, and inner knowing. Resistance comes from fear, control, and the need to be right. Pause and feel within your heart. If there is peace, even in uncertainty, you are aligned. If there is tension, tightness, or urgency, you are being invited to soften. Flexibility is not weakness—it is trust in divine flow. Allow yourselves to be both rooted and receptive.
The next time you feel that familiar energy rising within you—the part that says, “I won’t budge”—pause for just a moment and ask yourself:
Am I standing in truth… or resisting change?
Is this coming from love… or fear?
That small moment of awareness can transform everything. It is awareness becoming aware of being aware. Because your strength is not meant to create walls. It is meant to build bridges.
Angels Whisper: You were never meant to break in the winds of change…but neither were you meant to stand so rigid that you cannot feel the breeze. Be rooted in who you are. Be open to who you are becoming. For in that sacred balance, you will find peace.
Today, I promise to be willing to soften when my inner awareness shows me what is for my best and highest good.
