YOU DON’T LIVE THERE ANYMORE

“Those who don’t look forward stay behind.”  Basque Wisdom

There is something powerful about having something to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be a huge dream or a life-changing event. It can be a trip you are planning, a new project, a gathering with people you love, a quiet day in nature, or simply the possibility that tomorrow might bring something beautiful you cannot yet see. Setting goals can sometimes feel intimidating because almost immediately that little voice inside begins asking, “Can I really do this?” or “What if it doesn’t work?”

I think we have all heard that voice. But perhaps looking forward is not always about knowing exactly how we are going to reach the destination. Maybe it is simply about turning our face toward possibility. There is a difference between living in the future and looking forward to the future. We certainly do not want to wish our days away. This moment is precious. This breath matters. Be here now. Yet when life becomes difficult, sometimes that little light on the horizon gives us the encouragement we need to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Hope says, “Keep going. There is more.” Your past does not define you. We hear those words often, but sometimes we need to hear them again. We are growing, changing, evolving human beings. We make choices. We take wrong turns. We fall down. We learn lessons. Sometimes we look back and wonder, “What was I thinking?” I have certainly had my share of those moments. Yet I cannot say that I regret the experiences that brought wisdom with them. There may have been disappointment, frustration, tears, or even embarrassment in the moment, but each experience taught me something. Every road—especially the unexpected ones—has contributed to the person I am today.

Perhaps instead of calling everything a mistake, we can sometimes call it a lesson.

Take it in.

Understand it.

Learn from it.

Forgive yourself and others.

Release it.

Then move forward.

You were never meant to build a permanent home in yesterday.

Every morning life hands you a blank page and whispers, “Begin again.” You get to decide what energy you bring into this day. You get to choose whether you will carry yesterday's burdens or make room for today's possibilities. You do not need to know what the entire journey looks like. You only need enough faith for the next step.

I have learned this lesson many times on the Peace On Earth Tour. There have been moments when I could not see very far down the road, literally or figuratively. Plans changed. Doors closed. Directions shifted. Yet somehow another path appeared. That is where trust comes in. We can be fully present today while still becoming excited about tomorrow. We can appreciate where we are while dreaming about where we are going. We can bless what has been while opening our arms to what is yet to come.

So give yourself something beautiful to look forward to.

Dream again.

Make the plan.

Take the trip.

Start the project.

Say yes to the possibility.

Eat the cake … and the ice cream.

And if yesterday is tugging at your sleeve, gently loosen its grip and remind yourself, “I don't live there anymore.” There is a new beginning waiting in this very moment.

Dear Angels, how do we let go of the past while still honoring the lessons it has taught us?

Dear Ones, the past was never intended to be your dwelling place. It was your classroom. Bless the experiences that brought you wisdom, even those you would not choose to experience again. You need not carry the pain in order to keep the lesson. Release what has completed its purpose.

There is nothing behind you that is more powerful than the Divine presence within you now. Your path unfolds one sacred step at a time, and you are not required to see the entire road before taking the next step. Look forward with hope, but do not overlook the miracle beneath your feet today. The future is not asking you to rush toward it. It is simply inviting you to remain open.

Trust.

Walk.

Receive.

There is more love ahead of you than you can presently see.

Angels Whisper:  Dear One, yesterday gave you wisdom, today gives you choice, and tomorrow gives you possibility. Bless what was, embrace what is, and trust what is coming. Keep looking forward.

Today, I promise to move forward consciously aware of the present.
