WHO ARE YOU BEING

“Your life is not about you. Your life is about everyone else’s life you touch.” — Neale Donald Walsch
When faced with the question, “Who am I?” most people begin by describing themselves according to what they have done in the world. We list our accomplishments, our careers, our relationships, our roles in the family, and perhaps our position in the community – teacher, parent, spouse, leader, healer. These things tell part of our story, but they do not answer the deeper question.
Who we are in this lifetime is revealed by how we show up. It is found in the way we treat the person who can do nothing for us. It is in the kindness we offer when no one is watching. It is in the hand we extend to someone who has fallen, the words of encouragement we give to someone who has lost hope, and the love we offer when judgment would be easier. Perhaps the better question is not simply, “Who am I?” but “Who am I being?” Who am I being when someone needs compassion? Who am I being when I am challenged? Who am I being when I disagree with another person? Who am I being when I walk into a room? Do I bring peace with me? Do I leave people feeling lighter, more hopeful, more loved? Do my words build bridges or walls?
These questions take us beyond our titles and into the essence of our soul. Neale Donald Walsch’s words remind us that our lives are interconnected. We may think we are simply moving through our own individual experiences, but everywhere we go, we are touching another life. Sometimes we know it. Most of the time, we probably do not. A smile offered to a stranger may be forgotten by us within minutes, yet it could be the only kindness that person receives that day. A conversation we consider insignificant may contain exactly the words another soul needed to hear. A loving gesture may ripple outward through someone else, touching people we will never meet. That is the beautiful mystery of being human. We are constantly creating ripples.
Think about the people who have touched your life. Chances are, some of the most influential ones were not famous, wealthy, or powerful. They were simply present. Perhaps it was a teacher who believed in you, a friend who listened without judgment, a stranger who showed unexpected kindness, or someone who loved you through a difficult season. They showed up. And because they did, something inside you changed. What if this is part of why we are here? We spend so much time trying to discover our purpose as though it is some grand assignment hidden somewhere in the future. Maybe purpose is not always about doing something extraordinary. Maybe purpose is found in the ordinary moments when we choose to bring love into another person's experience. You do not have to change the whole world.
Touch one life with love, and you have changed the world that person is experiencing. And then that person carries your love forward. This is how light travels.
Dear Angels, we spend so much of our lives trying to figure out who we are and what our purpose is. How can we better understand the impact we have on the lives of others?
Dear Ones, you search for yourselves in titles, accomplishments, relationships, and experiences, yet none of these fully describes the magnificent being that you are. You are an expression of Divine Love moving through the world. Your purpose is not measured only by what you accomplish. It is revealed in the energy you bring into every encounter.
Each person who crosses your path gives you an opportunity to choose who you will be in that moment. Will you choose love? Will you choose compassion? Will you choose patience? Will you choose peace? Do not underestimate these choices, Dear Ones.
You often look for great signs that your life has mattered, yet Heaven sees the moments you overlook—the tears you helped dry, the hope you restored, the laughter you inspired, the forgiveness you offered, and the love you gave without expecting anything in return. These are not small things. You are planting seeds in hearts everywhere you go. Some will bloom immediately. Others may remain beneath the surface for years before they emerge. You are not required to know the outcome. Your task is simply to plant with love. Walk gently through this world, remembering that every soul you meet is carrying a story you may know nothing about. Let your presence say, “You matter. You are seen. You are loved.” And when you do this, you will begin to understand who you truly are. You are not merely a person living a life. You are a light touching other lights, creating ripples of love that extend farther than you can possibly imagine.
Angels Whisper: Your legacy is not written only in what you accomplish. It is written in the hearts that are different because you were here. Today, ask not only, “Who am I?” Ask, “Who can I love?” Then allow the answer to become your life.
Today, I promise to keep seeking who I am and witnessing it by the impact made in others’ lives.
