TIMID STEPS, SACRED DREAMS

Fluffy white cat with bright green eyes peeks from behind a wall. Soft lighting creates a curious and playful mood.

"Dream big and dare to fail."   Norman Vaughan

Today, I met a cat. Actually, I met three cats—but it was the most timid one who captured my heart. He wanted the treat. I could see it in his eyes. He edged closer, stretched just enough to take it, and then—skedaddle, as we say in the South. A few minutes later, he circled the chair where I sat. Curious. Hopeful. Cautious. No amount of coaxing could convince him it was safe to come closer. As I watched him, something stirred deep within me. I realized how many humans I know who move through life in much the same way. They want something so badly. A dream. A calling. A new beginning. They reach for a morsel—just enough to taste what might be possible—and then fear rises up and they retreat. Hope feels too vulnerable. Desire feels too exposed. And so they circle their dream, staying just far enough away to avoid the risk of being hurt. I found myself asking the angels if I do this too—if I ever step back just as a dream begins to show itself as a real possibility. So many of us do. Some call it the fear of success. Others call it self-sabotage. Whatever the name, it often appears just as the dream begins to feel real. The ego steps in with its familiar voice: Who do you think you are? What if you fail? What if you succeed and can’t sustain it? Later in the day, I met a successful businessman here in India. To the outside world, he has “made it.” And yet, as we spoke, he shared that same inner battle—the moment when a dream arises and the ego rushes in to dismantle it before it can fully take form. It reminded me of a simple truth: success does not silence fear; trust does. I know I am worthy of the fulfillment of my dreams. I also know that this journey—this human journey—is one long, sacred exercise in trust. Trusting ourselves. Trusting divine timing. Trusting that the desire planted in our heart was placed there for a reason.

Dear Angels, why do we retreat when our dreams come close? How do we move beyond fear and trust ourselves enough to fully step into what we desire?

Dear Ones, when a dream draws near, it activates everything within you—your hope, your excitement, and also your unhealed doubts. Fear does not mean you are unworthy; it means you are standing at the edge of expansion. The ego speaks loudly at these thresholds because it is afraid of change. It was formed to protect you in a smaller world. Your soul, however, was designed for growth, expression, and joy beyond what the ego can imagine. You do not sabotage your dreams because you lack courage. You hesitate because you care deeply—and caring makes you vulnerable. Know that you are not being asked to leap without support. You are being invited to take one honest step closer. To linger in the presence of your dream. To breathe with it. To let trust grow gently, just as courage does. Failure is not a punishment; it is a teacher. Success is not a burden; it is a natural outcome of alignment. Neither defines your worth. Your dreams are not teasing you. They are calling you home to who you already are.

Angels Whisper: Beloved, you do not need to run toward your dream or run away from it. Simply stay. Stay present. Stay open. Stay willing. Trust grows where love remains—and your dreams will meet you there.

Today, I promise to walk toward my dreams, not away from them.
