When we take time to realize that we have choices, this statement by Joyce Meyer -- which is based on science by the way, -- is a very big deal. I don’t recall ever thinking “well, I think I will make myself sick today so I will get very angry.” However, we cannot unlearn what we have learned. We know for a fact that the lower vibrational energy creates stress inside of us which leads to lowered immunity systems and depletion of our energy. Why then would we allow ourselves to be triggered into a fit of anger or sadness or anything that takes away our health and our joy? Just thinking of the words “he made me so mad” or “she made me do it” seems quite ridiculous in light of our knowledge, doesn’t it? Yet there are times we cave. I know, I’ve been there done that! It feels terrible to lose control and realize that I’ve allowed my power to be taken over by someone else. When this happens, I do feel that I have abandoned myself and that is not a good feeling at all.
Dear Angels, for those of us who have worked very hard to find our inner strength there are still times of struggle emotionally. Just knowing facts sometimes is not enough. How do we strengthen our fortitude so that we stop abandoning ourselves?
Dear Ones, abandonment can show itself in many different ways. You can choose to shut out who you truly are and pretend to be someone else. You can ignore your desires in life and deny yourself pleasure and joy, choosing to live a life of misery. You can escape your true being through drowning yourself in mind-altering substances. You can shut down and refuse to connect in with your higher power, facing the experiences of the world alone. When you understand that it is your choice to be and do anything you desire and live your life to its full potential, abandonment then becomes a conscious choice if you continue down that path. We watch you in your daily lives, Dear Ones. We observe the struggles and the achievements. So many times we see you give up easily. We come near you to offer a hand up only to be ignored as you once more abandon yourself. We are encouraging you now, Dear Ones, if this is speaking to you to please put away the self-punishment. Denying yourself pleasure and happiness in life is not necessary. We want you happy. We want you to be the very best you can be in all circumstances and in each moment. You are worthy of that. You need not do anything to earn that worthiness. It is yours already. Take it. Own it. Love it and nourish it as you would a child. Come home to love.
