Love One Another

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” ― Margaret Mead

One of my dear friends lives in New Orleans and I will be visiting her soon when Jean Lorio and I head eastward on the next leg of the Peace On Earth Tour. I have known Sheri Myers for a few years, first virtually and then in person when I stopped in to meet her and her husband Dan last year. For years I have seen her Facebook posts about the community fridges in her beloved community of NOLA but I really did not understand how it works until I did more research. Sheri and Dan cook homemade meals in their home and then take them to one of the 15+ fridges scattered throughout New Orleans. These fridges are stocked with food by people like Sheri and Dan and are available 24/7 for people who need a meal. On the fridges are signs that say things such as “Take what you need, leave what you can.” The organization coordinating the effort to keep the fridges stocked can be found at NOCF | New Orleans Community Fridges (nolacommunityfridges.org). “We still believe that another world is possible, where everybody is not only fed but thriving” is one of their posters on their website. I am so impressed by this community effort and beyond proud to know this amazing couple who support their community in this way. Sheri and Dan, kudos to you for changing the world and to the entire NOLA community who understands what it means to be battered and torn down and the importance of supporting each other.

Dear Angels, it is so uplifting to hear about the ways people are doing positive things in the world and making an effort to create a world where we can all coexist peacefully and thrive.

Dear Ones, sometimes when people go through tragedy together, they fully understand the importance of showing compassion and giving a hand up where possible. We encourage every community to look at the example you have brought forth to shine a light on an see if more efforts such as this can be made throughout the world. When you help each other instead of fighting and tearing down your communities, you are truly bringing in more peace. It is through efforts like this that you catch a glimpse of your soul elevating to a higher level as you focus on giving rather than taking. The commandment to “love each other as I have loved you” is truly exemplified in these efforts. Well done!

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to look outside of myself and see where I can make more of a difference in the world by either taking action myself or shining a light on those who are and supporting their efforts.
