Follow The Red Brick Road

“People want you to be happy.

Don't keep serving them your pain!

If you could untie your wings

and free your soul of jealousy,

you and everyone around you

would fly up like doves.” - Rumi

Earlier today I heard the words “the journey is easy when you know the path.” Well, of course it is! When we drive in a familiar town, we don’t have to use a map as the turns come to us from having done them many times before. When we play an instrument, the notes are easy for us to find without putting any thought into it. But where is that ease and grace when we traverse the road to happiness? Many cannot find it on a map because they have not gone down that road before. For some, life is a struggle all along the way. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross wrote “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths.” Finding the way sometimes involves using your gut instinct. Many times along the journey over the last year I have gotten intentionally lost. I just ignore the General and see where a road leads. Some of those side excursions off the proposed path have led to magnificent experiences. It is the same with life. We can begin to follow a path that others tell us is the way out of our depths of emotional distress that will lead us to happiness; however, if we follow our own inner guidance the path will unfold without the directions to follow. I call this living by faith.

Dear Angels, I know there is a huge benefit in listening to those who have traveled a path before us and their way is sure to lead us where we are looking to go. However, I also know that there is more than one path that can be taken to arrive at the same destination. When we are looking for that road to happiness and inner peace, I feel it is imperative to follow what our inner guidance system tells us to do, not anyone or anything outside ourselves.

Dear Ones, indeed when you have a desire the universe has a response. There are options and opportunities and each path will give you a different experience. Sometimes the shortcut will get you there faster but may not provide you with opportunities to smell roses or see a sunset. It is just a direct path from one point to another. If it is the scenic route you desire, then ask for that. It may take longer but will be so worth it in the end. Once you travel that path that leads you to inner peace and joy, it then becomes a familiar road and easier to remember the twists and turns when you need to return. You are never lost, Dear Ones. If you seem to be in unfamiliar territory, we invite you to pause and observe. Remember a time when the road took you home. Find that feeling inside of you of comfort and safety. Allow yourself to remember how you got there. Call on us to bring that path in more clearly for you to remember. The more you allow yourself the freedom to explore and find the pleasure in what you encounter along the way, the easier it is each time to return home.

Dear Angels, I love that I can follow a red brick road and that it does not have to be the yellow one as I travel along my journey. There truly is no place like home, and home is where my heart is in any given moment. Thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to look for daffodils and robins, not just roses and eagles.
